Feeling overwhelmed? Done everything you can and just in a panic loop?
Here is a song for inspiration that would likely make no one’s top 10, but is EXTREMELY on point for when you are feeling hassled or overwhelmed.
I’m talking about Josh Groban’s ‘Let Me Fall’.
Most inspiration songs are high energy, strong beat, and full of those ‘you’ve got this’ messages. This one is the exact opposite. So why does it work as a song for inspiration?
To answer the why, we must first ask the WHEN.
When does this song work for inspiration? When you are overwhelmed with stress, fear, and confusion about how to move forward.
This song works when you’ve done everything you can and the only thing to do next is to let what will happen, happen. There comes a moment, when holding on to the fear that drove you to work hard and strive for excellence is no longer useful. The inspiration you need, at that moment, is enjoy the weightlessness of hovering in mid-air, after you’ve let go of one trapeze and are swinging off to the next. It’ll happen, or it won’t. Just let go.
After all, this song seems to have been written for an aerial acrobatics show by Cirque Du Soleil!
I came across this song when I was in the car, running late, the end of a very stressful and harried morning. The thing is, once in the car the time it takes to get to where I needed to is the time it takes. I had done all I could to hurry prior to that, and I would do all could on the other side of the drive. But while in the car there was nothing to do but breathe, allow the drive to take the time it needed, and be safe.
Basically, there was no point in being stressed while driving because there was nothing more I could do to change the situation.
Then this song came on. The slow pace of the song let me breathe. This meditation lowered my physical stress. The lyrics – ever so important – are about just letting go and letting what happens happen. As a content creator the phrase ‘there comes a moment when fears and dreams must collide’ really resonates. And when there is nothing more you can do to change the path you’re on… then just let go and let it happen.
When you’ve done all you can to prepare you come to a moment when you can do nothing more but let go. Embrace the flight. There will be plenty of time to panic later if you wish.
After all, in every journey there comes a “moment when fear and dreams must collide”.

“Let Me Fall (From Cirque Du Soleil)”
Let me fall
Let me climb
There’s a moment when fear
And dreams must collide
Someone I am
Is waiting for courage
The one I want
The one I will become
Will catch me
So let me fall
If I must fall
I won’t heed your warnings
I won’t hear them
Let me fall
If I fall
Though the phoenix may
Or may not rise
I will dance so freely
Holding on to no one
You can hold me only
If you too will fall
Away from all these
Useless fears and chains
Someone I am
Is waiting for my courage
The one I want
The one I will become
Will catch me
So let me fall
If I must fall
I won’t heed your warnings
I won’t hear
Let me fall
If I fall
There’s no reason
To miss this one chance
This perfect moment
Just let me fall
